Idaho Poll Worker Information

In order to be a poll worker in Idaho:

  • Political affiliation preferred
  • It is recommended that you are a resident of the election district for the 30 days prior to the election
  • You must complete required training
  • You will be entitled to compensation
  • Students with citizenship who are 16 years old may work

Idaho Absentee Ballot Process

You can fill out an absentee ballot request form here or any registered voter may apply in writing to the County Clerk to receive an absentee ballot. The application must give the name of the elector, residence address in Idaho, and mailing address to which the ballot is to be forwarded. The mail-in application shall be signed personally by the applicant and be received by the County Clerk no later than 11 days before the election.

All voters are required to show photo ID or sign a Personal Identification Affidavit to cast a regular ballot. Acceptable forms of ID include:

Idaho Registration Deadline

You can now register to vote online! You will need a driver's license issued by the State of Idaho DMV, a state ID or the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number in order to register online. If you do not have any of these, you can still register in person or by mail.

Idaho Election Dates

The next election date is Tuesday, August 27, 2019 (Local Elections). The registration deadline is Friday, August 2, 2019. Election day registration is available.

Idaho ID Needed for Registration

If you are a first time voter in Idaho, you must either submit a copy of one of the following items with your registration form or show it at the polls prior to voting:

  • A current and valid photo ID
  • A current utility bill
  • Bank statement
  • Government check
  • Paycheck
  • Government document that shows your name and address

Idaho Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to vote in Idaho you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • A resident of Idaho and in the county for 30 days prior to Election Day
  • At least 18 years old before or on Election Day
  • Not convicted of a felony. (If you have been convicted, you must have had your civil rights restored)
